Aims of Sanderson High School

The aim of our school is to provide opportunities for all pupils to achieve their potential academically, emotionally and socially.

This involves the acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitudes which help them to be useful and fulfilled members of society. In addition to encouraging and promoting the developments of interest and leisure pursuits, our school also seeks to encourage attitudes of responsibility, self-discipline, initiative, endeavour and individual judgement.
We do this by

1 through working with pupils, parents, colleagues and outside agencies in an atmosphere of mutual respect.
2 by presenting age appropriate learning opportunities in an organised manner.
3 by constantly evaluating our skills and the provision we offer.
4 by ensuring all resources - material, human and financial are managed to the best advantage of our pupils.
5 by implementing current National and Regional guidelines.
6 by ensuring issues of equal opportunity and social justice are addressed.

Accommodation and Facilities
Sanderson High School houses state-of-the-art facilities in its modern building. Pupils also share the wider campus with Calderglen High School. www.calderglen.s-lanark.sch.uk.

Curriculum for Excellence
The curriculum mirrors that of a mainstream secondary and pupils have the opportunity to follow both Curriculum for Excellence and SQA National Qualifications.
As well as the formal curriculum, pupils are provided with opportunities to develop independence, social skills and responsibility and are encouraged to be assertive and confident as they move through the school.

The school fosters a safe environment where pupils are able to fulfil their potential at a pace of learning that suits them and there is flexibility for pupils if they require. The holistic approach taken by staff ensures that pupils' needs are met and time is taken to ensure that staff are aware of issues surrounding individual pupils.
Parents are encouraged to be part of thir son's/ daughter's education and are welcomed to contact the school as and when the need arises.
